| Luther and the Schmalkaldic League: Guided tour of the historical old quarter with its medieval town architecture, half-timbered buildings and stone bowers from the 14th18th centuries, then on to the town hall, birthplace and meeting place of the Schmalkaldic League, with its busts of Luther and coats of arms of the members of the League, Luthers house, Rosenapotheke, 16th century apothecarys shop, the Hessenhof and the grounds of Wilhelmsburg Castle Encounter with the Lutheran movement: Guided tour round the town church of St. George where Martin Luther preached in 1537, with small church museum in the Luther Room; ascent of the tower and visit to the Türmerstube Dawn of a New EraRenaissance and Reformation: Guided tour through the magnificent banqueting halls of Wilhelmsburg Castle with their original wall paintings and stucco work, and the permanent exhibition on Schmalkalden and Europe in the 16th century, the Reformation, the Schmalkaldic League, and court life and culture at the time of the Hessian landgraves.
